We created a new, even more innovative Digestive EQ formula

As new scientific research emerged in 2021, we added these findings to our existing knowledge pool, spoke with a range of equine experts, and agreed to invest in revising our already highly effective Digestive EQ formulation to deliver the additional benefits of this research.

The studies provided new insights on:

• the benefits of increasing the magnesium to calcium ratio,
• the roles that amino acids play in mucous production and critically important gut wall maintenance, plus
• the benefits of postbiotics, and their effects on hindgut support for horses.

What's new about the new Digestive EQ gut support supplement?

We are absolutely delighted to provide you and your horses with an improved Digestive EQ formulation. We've made four crucial changes to increase the gut support benefits of the supplement. 

1. New magnesium hydroxide for dual buffering

Digestive EQ uses two research-backed stomach buffering agents to help maintain a normal stomach pH, controlling acidity levels in the horse's gut.

Calcified red marine algae, with its open honeycomb structure and superior buffering capacity works together with the new addition of powerful magnesium hydroxide to help maintain your horse's ideal stomach pH.

Your horses are likely to have less acidity induced damage to their gut wall, which also means that they should experience less discomfort... and you're less likely to experience the reactive behaviour that may trigger!

2. Two more amino acids 

Digestive EQ contains a superior profile to any other gut supplement on the market and a higher quantity of amino acids including glutamine, threonine, proline and serine. 

We still include Threonine and Glutamine which support muscle building processes and cellular repair, but we have added more amino acids, with the addition of Proline and Serine for better protective mucous production and gut wall support.

Mucous production is an essential step in protecting the horses gut wall from 'injury' to preventing damage and discomfort, and in addition, the amino acids help accelerate gut wall recovery.

Did you know: Digestive EQ is 7.7%  amino acid, providing a total 10 grams of amino acid per 130 gram dose! This is the highest dose of amino acids on the equine gut health supplement market!

3. Increased dose of prebiotic and a new postbiotic

We now include both prebiotics and postbiotics in Digestive EQ. The pre and post biotics promote the growth of beneficial microorganisms and help inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria in your horse's hind gut, reducing the negative impact of diet or stress on hindgut health and immune function.

Our postbiotic has already gone through the process of fermentation, so unlike probiotics, it doesn’t need to be ‘live’ to be effective.

So adding more pre-and post biotics in this digestive supplement for horses provides increased hindgut support, by supporting growth of good bacteria and reducing growth of bad bacteria. That's a win-win for your horse's digestion and hind gut health.

It also supports the digestion of fibre to help horses more efficiently digest their feed - meaning you may find that you feed (and spend) less!

4. Higher level magnesium oxide

We have added Magnesium Oxide to increase the magnesium to calcium ratio in Digestive EQ to the new scientifically recommended levels. Digestive EQ's unique balanced calcium to magnesium ratio is designed to ensure correct magnesium absorption and metabolism.

Magnesium is involved in numerous functions in the equine body, but to a horse’s body, calcium and magnesium are very similar minerals, which means they share absorption and hormonal control mechanisms and sensors.

Magnesium works antagonistically with calcium in the body. This means that an overly high ratio of calcium can prevent magnesium absorbtion and metabolisation... leading to issues with nervous function, behaviour and bone health. Maintaining the right balance of calcium and magnesium helps ensure that these key processes are working optimally.
